In the Beginning…

In our humble opinion, good documentary photography is not just about taking great pictures... it's about telling a story.

In wedding documentaries we need to curate the right moments into a final body of work representing not only this one, single day... but also capture the truth of the story that informs the event. It's just as much about the journey as the destination.

And so, to tell a wedding story honestly requires an ability to study and translate information accurately as well as artistically... narrative is everything and periphery is vital. So, it makes sense that as doco-makers very little in our photography is manipulated. We won't do pretend.

We don't shoot commercial work and take only limited portrait bookings outside our wedding commitments each season. This is because our wedding work takes priority over everything else we do. It is our niche. We're fussy and well, yes... a little pedantic. But easy-going where it matters, always hands-on and deliberately boutique

Our style is relaxed, but not so much so that we won’t get involved where needed. We don’t work with professional models… our clients are ordinary people who want their shoot to be natural and candid, but also under the control of an experienced eye with a contemporary sense of style. We work hard to make it look easy.

So it’s documentary photography with an edge… with input where needed, but never where not. We capture the moments that say important things, curate these into a story that’s reflective and do it all without anyone realising. Until the end where the images come back and the story unfolds all over again.
