We love a good colour block; it’s so modern and refreshing! Gorgeously vibrant reds are a match made in heaven when paired with pink hues for a pretty and playful wedding palette –especially when set against a bit of gold or copper. These tones are fabulous as accent colours to really make a statement and add real warmth and intimacy to your look. Reminiscent of raspberries and rubies, be inspired by all the darling ways this palette can make your celebration pop…
Featuring one impactful statement piece is a modern and vibrant way to use this palette; An ombre draped curtain ceremony backdrop complete with romantically lit candles, or a luscious centrepiece filled with red and pink florals to the perfect abstract manicure of bold colours against the crisp white of a wedding dress! If you love this palette, but don't want it to be too bold, choose to limit the reds to pops in specific places and use a light shade of pink everywhere else.

Roses are red and so is the universal colour of romance which is why crimson is the most eye-catching choice when it comes to wedding colour palettes. Conjure up feelings of fervour in your wedding guests with this gorgeous red hue which works well for a modern classic look.
Red is such a versatile colour and shines on its own or pops when paired with other colours. Red and grey is a very sophisticated and suitable palette for a winter wedding palette – the grey hues are a natural fit for winter, while the red is expressive, passionate and glamorous.
With many of the prettiest wedding flowers available in red shades, you can feature just about any bloom you like and still create the perfect ruby-hued bouquet. Use classic roses, garden roses, peonies, clematis, anemones, or ranunculus for your red details.

THE COUPLE: Georgia + Harry
PALETTE: White. I chose all white decor because it is simple and elegant.
THE DRESS: Anne from Rapsimo made my dress and she did an amazing job! I didn’t want the night to be over because I wanted to keep wearing my dress. I was looking for something unique, which I had not seen before. My gown was a two-piece design, with a full skirt and train. It was gathered on the side with pockets. The top was sweet heart-shape with dainty spaghetti straps and covered with lace, pearls and beading.
THE RECEPTION: We loved the reception venue for its amazing food and ‘sunken’ dance floor. The coordinators were lovely to work with, very professional and organised. We also had a very large guests list so we needed to ensure our chosen venue could accommodate this.
THE DÉCOR: For the ceremony we displayed two large gypsophila arrangements on pedestals in tall clear vases filled with water. On each pew there was a bow tied up with satin ribbon and bunches of gypsophila. Harry and I handed out little bottles of bubbles and bags filled with white roses and rice for our ceremony exit. For our bridal table, we scattered gypsophila filled vases and crystal tea light candles across mirrored bases. On guest tables there were alternate centrepieces of gypsophila with crystal tea lights and crystal candelabras. Place cards were at each table setting with pearl stickers above and below guest names.
THE FLOWERS: My bouquet consisted of white roses whilst my bridesmaids carried gypsophila posies.
PHOTOGRAPHER: Harry and I wanted all natural photos with greenery backdrops. We chose Photos Xposed as our photographer. We loved Vinny and Lori and clicked with them so well from our first consultation. We knew they would make the day relaxing and enjoyable with their incredible sense of humour.

Today’s real wedding is sure to knock your socks off, with splashes of red and French inspiration sprinkled throughout this GORGEOUS couple’s very special day! Jock proposed to lovely Amelia on a weekend trip together in the Barossa Valley. Being lovers of good food and wine, the pair adore the Barossa Valley and had planned a weekend away as an escape from busy work and study commitments. “We were on our way to lunch when we stopped off at a cellar door to buy a bottle of our favourite red – Elderton Shiraz. I was taking some photos of the vines and when I turned around and Jock was on one knee holding a gorgeous diamond ring!” remembers Amelia, “It was such a special moment, just Jock and I in the middle of the vines surrounded by stunning autumn leaves. We had a wonderful weekend in the Barossa celebrating our engagement.”
Amelia and Jock chose a stunning French vintage theme with a splash of red! “We both love France and have enjoyed travelling there. I am particularly obsessed with all things French, including the food, wine, language and fashion and found this a natural inspiration point when planning our wedding. I also love vintage fashion and styling and love that vintage treasures embody their own stories and history.” Together they collected old photos, vintage suitcases, and fifty antique teacups for their tea and coffee table. Red was the main colour, softened with tones of white, cream and natural brown. Splashes of crimson appeared across the various elements in the wedding including the invitations, bouquets, table settings, bridesmaid dresses and of course Amelia's red hair!
The lovebirds knew they wanted to have their reception at a winery. Over their years living in Adelaide they loved visiting wineries for special occasions and long lunches and the moment they visited Longview Vineyard for the first time, they instantly fell in love with the venue. “When looking for a reception venue, we wanted somewhere that had good food, wine, and a wonderful atmosphere. Longview had all these elements, as well as breathtaking views and fantastic staff!” At the reception venue, Amelia and Jock displayed old photos of their parents and grandparents on their wedding days. “It was beautiful to have this family history part of our wedding, particularly because most of our grandparents could not be there on the day.”
Amelia was positively stunning on her big day in a v-neck trumpet-style dress covered with imported ivory lace, including a fine belt with a bow at the back. She also wore a long detachable tulle train for the ceremony and a headpiece was made from the lace from the dress, dotted with crystals and pearls, with netting attached. “My shoes were from Ivory Soul Bridal Shoes and my wedding bouquet included red tones with touches of cream, white and pink. Our flowers included David Austin roses, dahlias, freesias, lisianthus, rose hips, snow berries, lambs ear and ivy berry foliage. Our flowers were wrapped in natural hessian with antique lace-small bows!”
Adelaide wedding photographers Mink Studio flawlessly captured every special moment. “We were looking for natural, non-staged wedding photography that captured the special moments and essence of the day. We chose Mink Studio because of their documentary style photography and we were so happy with our photos. We really can relive our wedding day through our photos and Angie and her team were fantastic to work with.”

When a wedding as delightfully unique as this one comes along, we just have to share it with you! Filled to the brim with vibrant red details, this retro wedding glows with Claire and Anthony’s (or Clanthony, as they have dubbed themselves) personalities. “It was also important for us to include our friends and family in the wedding as much as possible”, says Claire “since we have lived in so many different places around the world many of our friends and family travelled to our wedding. It was really special for us to see them all there to celebrate with us...the most special moments came during our speeches where we both sang to each other, which took both of us by surprise, as we were not expecting each other to sing.”
Claire and Anthony wanted their wedding to reflect their fun, creative and silly personalities and love of vintage clothing and collectables – to create a casual, fun and funny atmosphere and for people to have a great time, consume delicious food and wine and to sing, dance and play. A café referred to them in conversation one day turned out to be the perfect venue! "We held our wedding in a quaint cafe located in a Victorian Terrace house and furnished with eclectic vintage decor. A delightful courtyard out the back and original artworks adorning the walls matched our style and personality! We wrote our own vows and included lots of singing throughout the ceremony and reception. We also asked our celebrant to voice our support for marriage equality during the ceremony. We even live streamed the ceremony, speeches and dancing for our family and friends interstate and overseas who could not make it!”
Claire always knew that she wanted to wear a vintage gown - nothing that looked too much like a wedding dress. Her first dress was a light pink, satin vintage 1940s ball-gown and before the first dance she changed into a handmade short flowered cocktail dress. The bride accessorised with vintage costume jewellery, gorgeous red shoes and her bridesmaids wore vintage dresses sourced from different places. The wedding car was an extraordinary choice - Anthony's fave car, which was a cream and red Mini Cooper! The pair also made their own jams and chutneys as bomboniere and tied luggage tags around them with their 'Clanthony' monogram on one side and 'thank you' stamped on the other.
Kate from Kate Pardey Photography was on hand to capture every special moment. "We were looking for candid, quirky and relaxed photography and we have known and loved Kate for many years" explains Claire and Anthony. "We love her style of photography and her quirky personality. She was so helpful throughout the process and a big part of our planning and our day."
It was the little touches that were really special to Claire and Anthony, such as the handmade flowers, the Clanthony monogram that adorned the invitations, cake, and wedding favours; their homemade chutneys and jams; the amazing swing-gypsy band; the menu that was chosen to reflect their tastes and personalities and the games room filled with all of their favourite games from their childhoods including Hungry Hungry Hippo, Operation, Jenga, and Pick Up Sticks and, because it was Easter, they had an Easter Egg hunt!
