Wedding dress trends have come + gone over the years, but veils seem to
remain pretty much timeless. To wear a veil or not to wear a veil – that is the question. The people
of Ancient Rome believed that evil spirits would be attracted to the
bride, so they covered her face with a veil in order to conceal her face
and confuse the spirits, and thus protect her. However, veil or no veil is the question on
every bride's mind! There is a myriad of ways to wear them + simply too
many styles to commit to just one – so how do you choose the right one
for you? Don’t fret, we have you covered – delight your peepers with
these gorgeous styles!

Crisp whites, gold trimmings + olive branch finishing’s make for an exquisite wedding scheme. Such a beautiful adaptation to the traditional, long veil! These short editions are so pretty, typically covering just the face or part thereof. They compliment both an up-do and flowing locks, left down to frame the face. Opt for either a detailed veil with plenty of embellishments or go for a simple option to show off other features like makeup and, of course, the dress!
Adornments like feathers, diamantes, pearls, tulle and flowers add character to shorter veils and can intensify the effect of the head piece.

Chevron, part of the geometric clan, we love so much here at Brides of Adelaide. It's the height of style at the moment, and we are all for throwing the most fashionable event. This grey and yellow palette is fun and colourful but still elegant and crisp... so perfect for the warmer weather.

Romance, chivalry and the price of sweets - something that Grandma says will never be the same as "in her day." There is something adoringly romantic about earlier eras and we think a vintage-chic wedding theme is the perfect way to embrace this and bring an air of romance to your day. Vintage is back, and it's here to stay...
Put a relaxed swing on the day with tweed, checkered shirts and eclectic decor or opt for a 'vintage fairytale' vibe, taking inspiration from the Victorian era.
And don't forget the power of lace- it screams femininity, vintage and romance.

To wear a veil or not to wear a veil – that is the question. The people of Ancient Rome believed that evil spirits would be attracted to the bride, so they covered her face with a veil in order to conceal her face and confuse the spirits, and thus protect her. Today, many brides are braving the evil spirits and leaving tradition behind. In the fashion world, veils are all over the runway, from couture shows from Christian Dior and Giambattista Valli to headpieces designed by Marc Jacobs. Despite the trends, a veil is a personal choice and totally up to individual taste.
You need to consider how your veil will work with your dress, face shape, body shape, hairstyle and location. Firstly, identify the main focal points of your gown so that you can complement it with the perfect veil. For example, if you would like to make a stunning low back the feature, choose a shorter veil or an ultra sheer style. If your dress is elaborate and heavily detailed a simple veil would be most flattering. If your dress is simple, a more detailed veil would look beautiful.
Next step, consider your face shape – not every veil flatters every face! A round face requires a veil that will help make your face look longer and slimmer. Choose a veil that comes to at least your shoulders and preferably with something with volume on top of the head. If your face is square, choose a feminine veil that will soften your frame and add length, such as a circular and cascading style. A rectangle face is usually a bit long, balance it with a style that has width around the face but minimal volume on top. Finally, an oval face suits many styles of veils – lucky you! Time to experiment! Bear in mind the time of year and location – a veil caught on a windy day can be disastrous.
