Weddings are about bringing friends and family together for a celebration filled with fun, laughter and good times. While hubby-to-be and yourself are off on a romantic photo-shoot, keep the good times going for your guests and provide them with a variety of super-fun lawn games to keep them occupied. There is no better way to get guests chatting and laughing with one another as they toss, jump and putt their way to fast friends!
Lawn games also make for the perfect post-nuptial breakfast/brunch entertainment for the day after the wedding. Oh, and did we mention it's a good way to keep the kids entertained for hours!

Create a whimsical event for guests... lanterns, fairy lights and tulle are perfect for this.

Summer weddings are fabulous - the atmosphere is vibrant, fun and relaxed. The sky is blue, the sun is shining and guests are basking in the warmth of our Southern Hemisphere glow! Australia can get a little hot in the summer months, but don't worry - we've got plenty of ideas that will beat the heat and keep your guests cool enough to enjoy the celebrations!....
We love the idea of using plastic sunglasses as bomboniere! Place a pair on each of your guests' seats, or create a basket full of them for guests to grab. A sign such as 'Don't be blinded by our love!' is a cute touch and the glasses are a fun photo prop too!
Take advantage of the plethora of delicious, juicy fresh fruit on offer in the summer months and provide plenty of fruity goodness for your guests. Trays of cut-up oranges and watermelon are great refreshments for post-ceremony drinks, or to even provide while guests wait for the bride to arrive! Yum!
It's a thoughtful (and probably vital) idea to provide water for guests if you're having a summer ceremony. Buckets full of ice with water bottles in them are great for family and friends to grab and keep hydrated throughout the day. You can even get personalised labels on the bottles - "Lauren + James' Wedding 2013" is a cute touch.
Mason jars of icy cocktails are also great to provide to guests! Cold beers, fruity slushies and popsicles dipped in champagne will have your guests grinning from ear to ear!
SHADE is vital! There's seriously nothing worse than enduring the hot sun with no escape - particularly in your Sunday best. Ensure there either marquees or umbrellas for your guests to retreat to the shade when they need it, or at least provide summer parasols or umbrellas.
Fans are also a small touch, but will mean the world to your guests. Place a cute fan on each guest's seat. It could be a vintage fan or a stationery fan that doubles as a program. Either way, please ensure your guests have them to stay cool. They'll make good use of them...trust us!
If you're having an outdoor wedding and you aren't opposed to a super relaxed vibe, provide thongs for your guests with a sign 'dancing shoes'. It's no secret that feet swell up during the hot weather...guests will enjoy kicking off their heels or formal shoes in favour of comfy thongs they can groove in all night.
Water pistols! If you're wedding falls on a particularly hot day or night, leave a miniature water pistol as bomboniere for guests. An end-of-the-night water fight will be SO much fun!

Every aspect is polished and refined, an air of English royalty lingers amongst the luxurious fabrics, freshly picked flowers and delectable desserts. Forget other decorations and make friends with your florist to incorporate natural flowers where possible; floral wreaths, head garlands, chair decorations, centrepieces and archways are the only accessory this style needs.

Kayla puts her chance meeting with her future husband, Joe, down to ‘fate’. “He was from London and he and some friends were travelling the world. They ended up in Adelaide by accident and funnily enough, I was waiting for him.” Two years after their worlds were brought together, Joe proposed to Kayla over an intimate candlelit dinner – on bended knee, of course!
Everything about their wedding eye-catching, from the breath-taking surroundings at Waterfall Gully to the striking bride herself, all infused with a touch of old Hollywood glamour. Kayla and Joe wanted to transport guests back to the 1950’s era for the night, inspired by the very cool vintage swagger.
The handsome couple embodied the theme well, their cool outfits the epitome of vintage swagger. Joe stood tall in a black tux, suspenders and framed glasses by Gerry’s Suit Hire, his hair pushed back in a retro style. His sultry bride’s bright blue eyes stood out against her jet-black hair, which was voluminous and accessorised with an extravagant headpiece from Miss Martini. Her fitted silk dress was from Brides By The Park; a simple gown with a slight fish tail, low back and Hollywood train. It sparkled with the perfect amount of crystal embellishment and lace embroidery.
Infallibly classic and elegant, Kayla’s bridesmaids wore different styles of black dresses in different materials. The simpleness of their dresses ensured the beautiful pink and red rose bouquets were a pop of stand-out colour. The groomsmen were cool and traditional in black suits, also from Gerry’s Suit Hire.
The reception, held at Utopia @ Waterfall Gully, continued the 1950’s inspired celebrations. Utopia supplied the decorations and centrepieces, which featured mirrors with tea-lights on them and four-foot high white ostrich feathers on white stands. They also scattered diamond chips on black and white damask table runners. Utopia also designed the bright cupcake tower, decorated with red icing hearts.
Guests were treated to live swing songs and bomboniere designed by Kayla’s mum. They were mini bottles of white wine decorated with feathers and around the neck of each bottle she hung red shiny chocolate hearts in white organza bags with black velvet swirls. Wine and chocolate - you can’t go wrong in our eyes!
Wendy Broekx captured the wedding around Waterfall Gully with a mixture of some old Hollywood vintage shots, natural shots and magazine shots. The overall result, as you can tell, is just as perfect…although it’s not difficult to capture amazing photos when the couple look like Hollywood movie stars themselves!

This whimsical styling concept is inspired by the classic novel ‘The Secret Garden’ and the magic that stirs within the high garden walls. A hidden world of fanciful delights and beautiful overgrown flora is the enchanted setting for a delightful mystical wedding ceremony and reception. “And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles.” - Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden.
Briefly transport guests to a serene environment away from the hustle and bustle of the world, where they can laugh and dance and celebrate your love amidst the tranquillity of a secret garden. Rustic elements suit this styling concept perfectly; spend time before your wedding collecting weathered mismatched furniture, vintage crockery and wooden boxes for flowers and umbrellas.
Bring out the natural beauty of your hidden garden with a variety of simple D.I.Y projects. Homemade wooden arrows and signs point your guests in the right direction with excited anticipation of what will follow, as the garden is a secret after all. Glass jars filled with flower arrangements picked by family and friends and candles and chandeliers hung from the branches of trees create a truly enchanted space.

Amongst the lush, green surroundings of the garden, love blossoms. Combining a palette of moss green, magenta and white, luxe contrasts are created for the ideal tribute to the natural beauty of the outdoors. A whimsical aisle is formed from toadstool stem-like white leather ottomans, providing guests with the perfect 360 degree view of the bride and groom amidst impeccable surroundings.
Natural materials are faultlessly interwoven with the mad made. From serviettes disguised as delightful bows to a moss ring pillow and dainty floral centrepieces, this concept allows for both quirky and traditional elements of the wedding style to have an essential presence. A bold floral neck adornment is an edgy and modern alternative to the traditional bouquet for brides who want their hands free throughout the day.
Each element is considered with meticulous consideration of the backdrop. American inspired décor elements such as the increasingly popular Adirondack chairs are featured at the signing / place finder table for a modern, garden-party interpretation. This setup is embellished with upturned vases filled with pebbles and topped with wheat grass rounds. It also toys with the concept of bringing the indoors out, through the inclusion of lighting elements and a free standing piece of art, drawing focus to the table itself.
A forest of colour, exploring use of different vessels, textures and height is created on the table to truly encapsulate the garden feel. Ferns, long stems, bunches of blooms and varying sizes of glasses create a miniature paradise along the table. Pebbles are fresh cut limes are also dotted throughout the table to captivate the senses of each guest.
Whilst the natural elements of this concept make it truly unique, bridal party accessories need not be overlooked; intricate, oversized and beautifully eye-catching pieces are called for, with a perfectly delicious floral fragrance to match. Furthermore, this playful setting calls for playful accessorising from all involved and the groom’s subtle tie change from ceremony to reception is extant in this detail-rich wedding wonderland.

Down, down, down the rabbit hole Alice went, embarking on her magical adventure in Wonderland. We love the idea of a Wonderland themed wedding, based on the Mad Hatter's Tea Party - a day of beautiful colour and fairytale creations.
The key to our Alice in Wonderland wedding is to beautifully present the theme, without overdoing it. Sweet touches of the story are present throughout the entire day, fun colours, mismatched elements and a little bit of the unexpected. We love tea cup place cards, attached with a little note that simply says "drink me". Collect mismatched crockery to place along your tables as a throwback to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and use string to hang tea cups from trees as decoration.
A little bit whimsical, nothing goes together perfectly, which makes the style so beautiful and endearing. Search op shops high and low, raid your grandmother's cupboards and visit garage sales for pre-loved items to decorate with on your big day. Doilies, old fashioned alarm clocks, floral patterns, teapots as vases and darling sugar bowls are the perfect additions to your style. The perfect wedding favour? A copy of Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll of course, with a hand written note to each guest in the cover.
