It has been a crazy few weeks here at BOA HQ, but we were lucky enough to be treated to a couture delight at the launch of Malachi Empire’s Wildflower Collection. Under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights and draped satin sheets, the models had the crowd in awe as they graced the runway adorned by a gorgeous white floral backdrop and lined with rustic foliage for that ‘Wildflower’ theme. As socializing occurred against a background of funky tunes, guests were treated to a glass of bubbly, delicious canapés and some scrumptious mini-cupcakes thanks to Cristarella Cakes.
Featuring 21 gorgeous designs, Malachi Empires mastermind Sok Hoffman has been passionately working hard on this collection, which has been 2 years in the making. Enriched with elegance, grace and femininity, it isn’t hard to see why Sok’s designs are sought after by brides and has earned her recognition as one of South Australia’s leading bridal designers!
A combination of soft ivory, white French lace, sheer tulle and silk gives the gowns in this collection an ethereal and feminine feel that encompasses the Wildflower collection. Ornate bodices, off the shoulder sleeves and classic cuts add a hint of luxe and romance. The black gowns were definitely a stand out and crowd pleaser as they took centre stage against the delicacy of the white backdrop!
Huge congratulations to Sok from Malachi Empire for bringing her vision to life for every bride to enjoy. Peruse through some images below, you won’t be sorry…

We know it’s the most important dress you’ll ever wear, and you want to make sure it’s absolutely perfect! So because of this, we have narrowed down 6 quick tips that will make the experience a breeze and ensure that you have no regrets later down the track…
LIMIT YOUR ENTOURAGE
Reality shows always show the bride bringing her whole bride tribe dress shopping and usually ends in major drama. Having 10 different opinions makes it much harder to come to a consensus- and it can bring you further away from what you actually want. Two people who honestly have your best interests at heart is the best option – whether it be your mum and sister or best friend! You can always bring your girl gang to the final fitting!
BRING YOUR PHONE
When it comes to trying on a dress, bring an iPhone with you and take photos of the dress as well as videos. It is important to see how the dress fits from all angles, what it looks like when you walk around, sit down and so forth.
STICK TO SOMETHING CLASSIC
We love a bride who does her own thing when it comes to making a fashion statement, but for a majority of brides it’s not the case. Stick to dresses that are timeless and classics; don’t follow trends because 30-40 years down the track, you don’t want to regret your choice.
Your wedding dress is something you have been dreaming about since you were a little girl – you know the exact style, cut and fabric you want – but don’t let it cloud your judgement. We have heard so many stories of brides who search for a particular style of dress and end up with something completely different once they try it on. So if you’re a bride looking for something simple, trying on a princess style dress may not be such a bad thing…
It’s the one dilemma brides everywhere face – do I or don’t I wear a veil on the day?! There is no harm in trying one on with your gown selection, you never know, you just might surprise yourself!
Buy two pairs of shoes - one pair for the ceremony and a comfortable pair for the reception, so you can party all night long. Bring both pairs plus any accessories to your fittings.

Sure, we were all inspired by Kate Middleton’s long-sleeved wedding dress, but you don’t have to be a duchess on your big day to rock the look. Long-sleeved dresses can be totally modern and fun and can look rad or royal. These chic and totally classy dresses are perfect for a boho wedding, a modern wedding and everything in between. Plus, they are great for a bride tying the knot in the chillier seasons. One of the best things about this style is that they usually have the most amazing backs that you will EVER see on a wedding dress! Take a look at our 8 selections…

Lady Charlotte Wellesley, the daughter of the Duke of Wellington, wed financier and philanthropist Alejandro Santo Domingo over the weekend in a lavish ceremony in Íllora, Spain, just north of Granada.
She looked every bit like a royal bride in a structured off-the-shoulder Emilia Wickstead wedding dress and cathedral-length veil embroidered with polka dots while arriving at the church on her fathers arm.
Joining in the celebrations were a number of VIPs, including The Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles, the former King of Spain Juan Carlos I and singer James Blunt, who is married to Lady Charlotte’s cousin.
Be prepared to be inspired by royalty…

Designer: J'Aton Couture
Inspiration: A gown fit for a princess! "The Rebecca Gown" features kilometers of fabric with the corseted bodice made in the finest, manipulated lace with every single bead hand fixed on the gown. The never-ending layers in the skirt consisted of four different fabrics, all hand cut.
The second dress of the day was a gorgeous mermaid cut strapless gown with sheer, shiny tulle. It featured heavy embellishments with different beads, curves in opposing places and more detail with criss-crossed laces.

We love a fashion forward bride and the bridal fashion game has raised the stakes this year with the emerging trend of wedding dresses with capes – WE LOVE!! An impactful look, wedding capes are the modern day veil, perfect for a dramatic entrance as it trails behind you while you walk down the aisle.
The adornment of a cape isn't just for fashion-forward brides looking to make a style statement on their big day — capes are a great alternative for ladies who need a modest layer for a religious ceremony, but want the flexibility of removing that layer for the reception. While a complete embellished, full-length layer is totally glam, there are more softer, subtle sheer lace capes out there too for the simplistic bride.

Who wouldn’t want to break free of tradition with gowns like this! The Avant-Grade bride is a mix of Lady gaga and Nicki Minaj. Bold colours, whimsical flair, architectural layers and abstract bodices marry together to create a masterpiece gown for the inner diva. Just take a look…
A bold statement, this is not for the faint-hearted bride but rather for the unconventional bride who exudes confidence. For this type of bride, her gown becomes an artistic expression, her language and personality. With scintillating fits like this, a minimalist approach to styling is taken to compliment the ostentatiousness that the gowns exude.

It's as though blue and gold were made for each other - this colour combo is a match made in heaven! Glamorous, mysterious and everything in-between, add sweet nude hues into the mix and you've got the perfect wedding palette. Add extra sparkle to your night by using glitter or sequins to dazzle your guests. Consider a nude bridal gown or accessories for the perfect contrast against the deep navy of a grooms suit.

Nicole Trunfio married her long time partner, musician Gary Clark Jr. in custom Steven Khalil on April 19th in Palm Springs. They were surrounded by an intimate group of family and friends, including fellow Australian models Gemma Ward and Jessica Gomes, who served as Trunfio's bridesmaids.
The stunner donned a stylish and sexy Bianca Jagger-esque ensemble by Houghton to her rehearsal dinner the night before while it was all party at the reception. A semi-sheer sheath by designer Yolan Cris was her attire of the evening to end the night in.

You've been envisioning your wedding dress since you were a little girl. The wedding dress you wear walking down the aisle will be the centrepiece of your special day. It will also probably be the most talked about fashion item you will ever wear. Here is some wedding dress shopping advice to get you in the know before you go…
9 to 12 months before your wedding is the ideal time to start shopping
for your wedding dress. Unless you purchase a ready-to-wear dress that
fits you perfectly as soon as you try it on, wedding dresses are
generally required to be altered - usually a number of times over a six
month period, until they fit ‘just right’. If you have less than 6
months before your wedding, you will need to be more flexible about your
choice of wedding dress.
Visit Boutiques. Bridal boutiques are great places to shop for ideas. They carry a wide selection of gowns from a variety of designers. Try to limit your shopping to 5 or 6 boutiques and take along a notebook to jot down the details of the gowns that you like. If possible, avoid the busiest times such as weekends and evenings, so that you can receive more personalised attention.
Seek Recommendations. Word-of-mouth recommendations are the best form of advertising in any industry and a beautifully designed wedding dress is admired for a long time. Ask past brides which stores/designers/couturiers create beautiful designs, provide excellent service, attention to detail and great styling advice.
Match Your Budget. Investigate which stores best suit your budget. Whilst stores stock wedding gowns under $1000, designer stores start at $3000. Save yourself time by making an enquiry prior to making an appointment.
Take In A Trunk Show. Wedding dress stores also conduct special events such as trunk shows. At trunk shows, a particular designer (or representative store) exhibits the latest collections for brides to view and try on. Trunk shows are the best way of viewing all the wedding dresses in the collection, rather than a selected few stocked by the store. Some trunk shows also provide the opportunity to meet the designer in person and get their invaluable advise on the best look for you.
Speak The Speak. Wedding dress shopping is a whole new world, with its own special language. Before you even start visiting bridal stores, familiarise yourself with the gown and all of its parts; neckline, waistline, sleeve, skirt style, fabric, embellishments, train etc. Research the basic wedding dress silhouettes and try to determine which ones best suit your body.
Set your style. Consider the style, formality and location of your ceremony. Your wedding dress should compliment the location, time and season of your ceremony. A full length gown with a 2 metre train will simply look out of place at a cocktail garden party or a beach wedding. Envision yourself walking down the aisle in front of all your friends and loved ones and think about what suits your style and character. Write down 5 words that best describe you (for example classical, princess, bohemian or sophisticated). These adjectives will assist you in making wedding fashion selections for your dress, accessories and hair style.
Source A Good Salesperson. A good salesperson will ask you what type of wedding you're having, how you envision yourself looking on your special day and what styles of wedding dresses you like. A better salesperson will also identify what wedding dress style will look best on you based on your body type. Listen carefully to a salesperson's expertise - they work closely with brides on a daily basis. Value their advice and keep an open mind. If they bring you something on a hanger that doesn’t inspire you, try it on anyway. Even though certain wedding dress silhouettes look best on certain body types, try on different styles of wedding dresses and then decide what shapes and styles look best on you and which ones you feel most comfortable wearing. Trust your instincts.
Don’t buy the first wedding dress you try on - even if you think it is
perfect. Give yourself time to look around at other stores and think
about it more away from the store - just to be absolutely sure that you
have found the right one. You can always go back again.
Dare To Be Different. If you are having a truly unique wedding gown designed for you by an exclusive bridal couturier, the sky is the limit! Your one-off designer wedding dress will be the talk of the town and will not be seen on any other bride. Your wedding dress will be as individual as you are. If you are shopping for a ready-to wear wedding dress, don’t feel that you are restricted to what is on the hanger. In most cases, you can still add your own personal touches to a ready-to-wear dress. If you like the skirt on one wedding dress and the bodice of another, alterations can usually be accommodated (if both dresses are produced by the same designer). Embellishments such as lace and beads can also be added or removed, however remember that the more you change, the more costly your wedding dress will become.
The Search Is Over. You have found your dream dress, you look amazing in it, take a deep breath and savour the moment!

When it comes to autumn brides, we can’t help but fantasize about all the gorgeous ways that they can cover up their shoulders to fight off that first chill. We are obsessed with this up and coming trend, which has made its way off the catwalk and onto the shoulders of so many beautiful real brides. Take a peek at all the ways you can add that finishing touch to your gown…
Bridal covers ups have so many fabric choices! Fur cover ups [faux of course] are the perfect addition for a boho or vintage bride, adding a romantic air to a bride and enhance the overall wedding day look. If fur isn’t your thing, why not opt of a more modern look with a sheer bolero or something a little flashier crowded with embellishments.

Well that’s a wrap on 2014 ladies! The year of the Horse saw the last episode of How I Met Your Mother, Emma Watson delivering her empowering speech, Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” standing at number one for 12 weeks running and Sandra Bullock turning the big five zero. We thought what better time to reminisce on some our favourite celeb wedding gowns! From glam to bohemian and the utterly gorgeous…
Super star and sister of the amazing Cara Delevigne married in style wearing this impeccable Coco Chanel number.
The style icon walked the aisle to The Beatle’s classic In My Life, before celebrating in a classic marquee style wedding, her gown- a classy and timeless high neck number.
Beautiful reality TV star and magazine best-dressed-list regular, Palermo, wed her boyfriend of six years in an intimate affair whilst wearing a super-stylish, custom made three piece!
Is there really much left to be said about Miss Kardashian and her extravagant marriage to Mr Kanye West in June of this year? A high-profile event, which received a magnitude of media coverage... she did however look gorgeous.
Beyonce’s sis was wed in New Orleans amongst 100 friends and family, who all wore white. She was styled to a tee in an incredible and cutting-edge cape wedding dress... watch this space - we think cape dresses will be the gown of 2015!
Okay, she may not be sharing a space in Vogue with the Kardashian clan but Kate Twigley takes a space in our list. Sister of Rebecca Judd (AFL star, Chris Judd’s missus) married her fiancé, gracing the aisle in J'aton Couture. Such a masterpiece!
Jamie Lynn Spears

This Elie Saab dress is jaw-droppingly beautiful! The movement of the skirt with the sequin embellished top. Put simply... wow!
3 December 2014
Captivating, on trend and fashion forward... make a statement with this unconventional wedding gown style. 'Midi length' is technically any hem line which falls below the knee and above the ankle. Often perceived as retro or vintage, we have some dresses that kick this concept to the side. These dresses are modern and cutting edge; we think they scream sophistication and style.
Whether you prefer A-line, full tulle or a two piece we have found a gorgeous gown for you.
18 November 2014
The fishtail wedding dress, or mermaid style, is a favourite around BOA HQ! With it's figure hugging design and flared hemline. Flaunt your sexy curves in a gown that oozes modern glamour. Flaring out just below the knee, this design shows off each curve and contour of the female body.
Fishtail gowns can be as dramatic or subtle as desired. Likewise, the train can be long and exaggerated or basically non existent. What ever mirrors your personal style - the day is totally about you.
Strapless, sweetheart, one shoulder or high neck, we love them all! Chose gown style in accordance to height and body shape... strapless flatters shorter women while a high neck would give the illusion of a shorter torso.
11 November 2014
The myriad of dress design choices is of abundance, and ever growing. We adore these high neck wedding gowns - such a classic design which is both timeless and elegant. Kick the matronly look to the side - these dresses are anything but. To implement a sexy and feminine aspect, a backless style is a beautiful complimenting attribute.
For a super flattering quality - tulle, lace, beaded and cut out neck details are perfect. "High neck" does not just constitute a conservative look with no flesh showing.
2 November 2014
Such a beautiful relationship between lace in these wedding gowns. These dresses were worn by Kate Twigley during her wedding this week. Which is your favourite?
28 October 2014
The trend of the two piece wedding ensemble is translating through into bridal fashion from further afield this season, and we couldn't be happier. Imagine a wedding gown that you could actually wear again! We are so in love with these cropped numbers that we really struggled to chose just a few to showcase for you.
Tastefully flash a little skin on your wedding day - we think these bridal duos look just as striking as many traditional wedding gowns. Another fashion bandwagon that we are definitely going to be getting aboard.
These amazing two piece combo's are perfect for any bride - boho, sleek and glamorous ... how amazing does this bride look in her lace piece with red lippy?
Opt for all white or mix it up with any colour, we love this grey and gold selection. And don't fret ladies, you don't need to have the flawless Victoria's Secret bod going on either, choose a longer top to flatter all figures!
24 October 2014
When bridal styling so right, on so many levels. The dress design is stunning and we are just adoring un-conventional and simple bouquets at the minute...
21 October 2014
Up for something a little less traditional and a bit more fabulously gorgeous? The non-white wedding dress is slowly making its way into modern-day weddings and we are loving it!
Don't panic, we aren't suggesting you have to walk down the isle in bright fuchsia, (although you could!) Pastel colours are so pretty and a subtle way to add an element of surprise to your dress.
These colours are just exquisite.
Alternatively, inject colour into your dress with dip-dye details or under layer of tulle.
16 October 2014Red, white, rose, sparkling ... what's your flavour? We are blessed with some of the best wine country Australia has to offer; the views, the fresh air and the clear night skies.
Utilise this beauty on your wedding day, celebrating with friends amongst rolling hills, ripe vines and plush estates. We think vineyards are the perfect canvas for your wedding day, no matter what your style.
Opt for either a rustic, country vibe or allude to a more classic and chic occasion with lots of white and cream touches.
The photography opportunities are endless in a location such as wine country. We think this bridesmaid shot is so unique and special...
End the night celebrating with open fires, candles, starry skies and of course, plenty of wine.

Seriously Blake Lively, we have lost the ability to function. The moment we caught sight of her red carpet appearance the 2014 MET Gala a few nights ago we were LOST for words (and that doesn't happen often in the Brides Of Adelaide office often!). There are some celebrity brides who capture our hearts not only with their romance, but with their enchanting bridal style. Join us as we count down our top five fav wedding dresses from the past couple of years...
5. Aoife Cogan
Model Aoife Cogan shone in an Amanda Wakeley gold-embellished sparkling halter-neck wedding gown during her nuptials to her rugby star husband. The Grecian style creation was graced with a boho touch, thanks to a stunning pearl headpiece that sat upon her flowing curls. It doesn't get more beautiful than that!
4. Jodi Gordon
Australian actress Jodi Gordon's drop-dead-gorgeous J'Aton gown was a definite winner in our eyes. Strapless, with scalloped lace and a beautiful train, the gown flaunted Jodi's fit figure and polished shoulders. Rumour has it that Jodi's ornate ensemble took a total of 300 hours to make...so worth it!
3. Hilary Duff
Recognise this much-talked about creation? Hilary's hand-embellished mermaid style gown is by none other than the iconic Vera Wang and fitted the singer / actress like a glove. The exceptionally romantic blush tulle and organza, decorated with blooms, was especially made by Vera for Hilary. Lucky gal!
2. Millie Mackintosh
Millie was a breath of fresh air in her elegant, but refreshingly casual wedding gown during her ceremony to Professor Green. The vintage lace gown was modernised with an on-trend peplum skirt and the outfit would not have been complete, of course, without a classic white pair of Louboutins.
1. Rebecca Judd
Yep, Mrs Twigley still has our hearts soaring in her highly-coveted J'Aton masterpiece. The incredible gown continues to inspire brides who crave a little extravagance on their big day. Kudos Bec, you absolutely nailed it.

Style file: the white pantsuit! A fashion-forward option for the anti-bride. Totally chic, comfortable and an incredibly unexpected twist on typical bridal fashion. We love the idea of white pantsuit for your wedding day - it's fresh, sleek and would look so Hollywood with a bright red pout. This look is definitely a fab idea for ladies blessed with long legs, as the pantsuit would accentuate height. Are you a shortie? Don't stress - wear it, OWN IT!
5 October 2013
The simplicity of the illusion neckline on this beautiful wedding dress is divine. We love the modern twist on your classic wedding gown design! An illusion neckline would look so fab on bridesmaids dresses also, especially with some modern accessories!
30 September 2013
Fixing an extra bustle hook on your dress prior to the big day is an excellent idea – that way if the original breaks, you won’t miss out on any fun while your bridesmaids attempt a hasty sewing session! Preparation is your sure-fire route to a happy peace of mind...xx

Sok Hoffmann is the wonderfully passionate and talented designer behind custom couture bridal label Malachi Empire. Specialising in high-quality custom made bridal gowns and bridesmaid’s dresses, Sok strives to make every woman feel gorgeous and take pride in her individuality. Her love for luxurious fabrics are evident in her designs and creations, allowing each bride to enjoy an unforgettable experience as her dream wedding gown comes to life.
Sok’s exquisite 2013 bridal collection features soft silks, strong silhouettes and beautiful beadwork. Playing around with gorgeous drapery and defined necklines, vintage glamour is represented exquisitely in their design aesthetic this year. The gowns are feminine, highlighting the beauty of a woman’s curves, and refreshingly unique. We simply love Sok’s innovative approach to bridal fashion; her distinct designs bring an opulent dose of high-fashion to our fabulous Adelaide bridal industry.
We were lucky enough to catch up with Sok to find out exactly what inspires her creative mind...
What drew me to the bridal fashion industry… I am a self-taught dressmaker and studied design for a couple of years. My business has been created with love and appreciation for art, design and fashion. I create gorgeous gowns for women who appreciate the same pleasures and for those who appreciate my skill. I became a designer and dressmaker in Adelaide purely because I had not seen very many gowns that intrigued me as much as the designers interstate and overseas had.
My favourite bridal fashion industry leader…Vera Wang - her designs are creatively engaging to so many women. She challenges herself with design from beautiful to bold and outrageous. I think Vera Wang can merge into any type of design so flawlessly whether it is bridal, ready-to-wear, resort wear, perfumes and home wares.
What inspires me… I have a love for detailing and I see a lot of gorgeous work from other designers. I enjoy the challenge of recreating something completely different, yet with similar elements such as draping, beadwork or cuts.
My approach…my designs are delicate. Every detail has been carefully thought through and hand finishes are strategically placed. I work with the fabric and understand the way it moves and breathes. I start with the basic fundamentals, such as working with a strong silhouette, then work on adding, cutting or changing elements to suit my client’s needs.
Career accomplishments…showcasing in the Adelaide Fashion Festival in 2012 has been one of my biggest achievements, as I was able to stream into the fashion field in addition to bridal.
The first thing I do when I step into work…switch on my computer and turn on some music, check my emails and have a glass of health juice. I find when I have fed my musical tastebuds I feel inspired throughout the day.
A typical day at work… involves a lot of positive mental thoughts so I generally start the day with a morning run or a yoga session. I check/respond to emails at 8am and work through my assigned workload for the day. It could be cutting patterns, sewing, ordering fabrics, designing or organising appointments. On Sundays I plan my weekly work schedule to stay organised.
My favourite wedding story…my favourite wedding so far has to be one of my client’s Alysha. I had the opportunity to design a gorgeous slinky silk satin gown for her wedding in Venice. I loved how she spoke about her plans about marrying her best friend, her friendly nature and meeting her lovely parents during her fittings made the experience so beautiful. I’ve always wanted to see Venice and having someone wear a Malachi gown overseas at my dream destination was a bonus!
My favourite place to shop in Adelaide…my husband and I enjoy taking our kids to Tanunda to walk on the main strip. We love getting ice-cream, visiting op-shops and looking for new treasures for the home or garden.
My favourite place to eat in Adelaide…British India - I love their food and the restaurant interior.
The top of my shopping list…some new exercise gear; I have started a new training program and new programs need new outfits and shoes!
My idea of a good time…a lazy Sunday afternoon with good food, wine and great company in the sunshine.
When I am not at work you will find me…in the garden with my daughters. We enjoy planting native plants and shrubs to attract the native birds to visit our property.
What makes me laugh…I can laugh at anything now, as I am pretty random. I don’t take life too seriously and enjoy everyday as it comes.
I can’t live without…music. It clears up the mind when you’re cloudy and soothes you when you’re tired.
Stuck in my head is…”Hall Of Fame” by The Script. It is my work out song and uplifting.
Five words that describe me…friendly, practical, artistic, loyal and ambitious.
My favourite drop…Peter Lehmann Red Wine.
Make sure you visit Malachi Empire for more information about Sok and her gorgeous wedding dress and bridesmaids designs...

We are swooning over Australian wedding dress designer Grace Loves Lace. A fresh, whimsical and unexpected take on bridal, the brand has broken the bridal mould and is creating unique gowns for brides who are looking for something different. Ethereal, vintage-esque gowns are handmade to order in their Gold Coast studios and sent anywhere in the world. The best part? Not only are they refreshingly different, they’re also totally affordable.
“Gone are the days when ‘bridal’ meant wearing structured princess dresses, diamond studs and tiaras or a string of Grandma’s pearls. Style defines each of us on a daily basis and your wedding day should be no different.” - Grace Loves Lace.
Bohemian, carefree and comfortable, these dresses were created to fill a void in the market for dresses that were easy to wear and free-spirited. The stunning, ready-to-wear dresses are created from the finest French laces and silks, with inspiration from the Bohemian era combined with vintage charm. The site also offers beautiful boleros, veils, headpieces, belts and accessories so that you can create a unique look from head to toe.

Today we are inspired by these totally eclectic boho beauties. They've ditched 'traditional' bridal style for fashion completely individual to them. Casual, fresh and effortlessly chic, these bohemian brides are relaxed versions of your usual haute couture. We love the serene carefree feel their look has to offer - with tousled hair, comfy flowing materials and floral adornments, these brides have nothing to worry about but enjoying their special day. Comfortableness aside, there's another reason why you should consider going bohemian-chic for your wedding day; the go-with-the-flow vibes are definitely going to be on trend this Spring.

Engaged, already married, single, divorced...whatever, your relationship status is totally irrelevant when it comes to these breathtakingly stunning gowns by Israel designer Galia Lahav Haute Couture 2013-14. Whether you're busy planning a wedding or have sworn off men forever, there is absolutely no way you cannot love the immaculate detail, silhouette and design of Lahav's incredible artistry. This tres-glamorous photo shoot is entitled "The St Tropez Cruise" and, well, the photos speak for themselves.
The team at Galia Lahav shared their inspiration..."This season Galia Lahav’s bride explores the French Riviera, sails her yacht and rides her Harley Davidson from the heels of Monte Carlo, to the hot white graveled beaches in Cannes. From the film festival, the Casino and the royal palace in Monaco this is where royalties, actors, super-models, and celebrities meet and this collection is inspired by two princesses, on and off screen Brigitte Bardot and Grace Kelly.
Body-hugging silhouettes, softly embracing each curve, imperial ball gowns, and statuesque red carpet glamour dresses, all in a modern look, but with a wink at the sizzling 60's. Classic silk satins, chiffons, and French laces, Tulle and dotted net, mixed with hand embroidered details, using crystal and pearl embellishments, and antique cross-stitched ‘Gobelins’ medallions and floral motifs."
Like the burning sun over the glistening ocean in St Tropez, these dresses are hot..hot..hot!

In a world where each season symbolises a sudden change in textures, silhouettes and hues, a throwback thursday on a 2012 wedding dress collection may seem to contradict our claim to be Adelaide's ultimate bridal fashion and styling resource. When it comes to Yaki Ravid Couture, this is not the case. His stunning 2012 Love Collection designs are as relevant now as they were a year ago, with a versatile showcase of truly stunning couture gowns. Each dress finds a way to perfectly highlight the feminine curves of the female form in all the right places, offering current trends from lace and peplum to cut outs and 1920s draping. Take a brief trip back to Yaki Ravid's 2012 masterpieces and be inspired by the impeccable detail and silhouettes. We could gaze wistfully at them all day...

It may still be warm this week however the winter months are upon us and whilst winter weddings have a distinctly magical quality about them, there’s no doubt the air can get a little chilly! As a bride, you will probably be looking for some chic options to keep those shoulders warm when you’re braving the outdoors!
A cape is a fashion-forward idea that takes the bite off the air but still looks fabulous. We are loving these stunning designs by Johanna Johnson. Not only are they beautifully designed, but they are vintage-inspired, taking on the 1920’s Gatsby trend that the world has suddenly gone crazy for!

Girls! Bridal Fashion Week in New York has just finished – as always, we’re bringing you a dose of the best inspiration from the runways. First and foremost fans of Australian and local designers, it still never hurts to see what is on offer around the rest of the world! Without sounding cliché, one of our most anticipated shows was, as always, Vera Wang. Love them or hate them, her designs are undeniably interesting, from an array or head-turning colours to va-va-voom silhouettes. Wang took a turn from her bright colours of previous years and has produced a dramatic, yet elegant, monochrome collection (trend alert! See our monochrome styling concept for ideas).
Even if you’re a fan of the traditional white gown, these gowns provide some incredible inspiration with their amazing cuts, silhouettes and fabrics. We love the way that Wang has combined traditional styles with ultra-modern in one runway. Lace, princess skirts, fish tails and tulle are on offe for the classic brides, and fabulous cut-outs, panels and mesh fabrics will satisfy the modern brides needs. Once again Wang, we are not disappointed. Sometimes, simplicity is enough to be striking.

It’s that time of year again. Australia has come alive with the magic, glamour and excitement of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The time when you cannot open a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram feed without a fashion blogger sharing amazing pictures of their front row experience…not that we’re complaining! We love seeing the surprising and innovative fashions MBFWA has to offer. We have sat back and reflected on the first half of the busy, busy week and chosen our favourite inspiration for wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses straight from the runway! Enjoy!
Alex Perry, Dyana Kosso, Lisa Ho, Aurelio Costarella, Alice McCall, Bec & Bridge and Camilla & Marc set our hearts racing with unique gowns perfect for the fashion-forward bride.
Alice McCall hit bang on trend with feminine cut outs and Lisa Ho was her traditionally understated, yet cool self with full-length gowns of modern silhouettes. A personal favourite had to be Alex Perry’s figure hugging structured bodice gown with a sexy thigh-high split; so simple but so, so good. Bec & Bridge and Alice McCall had sexy and modern, shorter designs.
Let’s not forget about the beautiful bridesmaids…we are loving the neutral colour palette of the dresses below by Diyana Kosso, Bec & Bridge and Lisa Ho. Neutral, but definitely not snooze-worthy, cut-outs, layers and a-symmetrical designs are the features of these fabulous dresses. Diyana Kosso produced amazing gowns that could be worn by both bridesmaids and modern brides in warm ivory shades.
If you're after a splash of colour, MBFWA did not disappoint in the vibrancy department. Lisa Ho went va-va-voom in a show-stopping fire-engine peplum gown with a thigh high split (we’re noticing a trend…), while Alex Perry decided to keep his pop of colour to accessories with a bright yellow belt.
Bridesmaids always look stunning in blue shades. Take a cue from Bec & Bridge and coat bridesmaids in a baby blue pastel shade – modernised with a trendy below-the-knee hem and racer neckline. For a glamorous look, we love this full-length Alice McCall cutout gown in a deep navy.

L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival came alive with a sophisticated collection of breathtaking bespoke gowns from prestigious Australian fashion houses. The spectacular occasion saw LMFF showcase their first bridal show, an event following in the footsteps of Australia’s first ever bridal runway debut at Adelaide’s 2012 Fashion Festival when Brides of Adelaide Magazine presented Bridal Runway Fusion: The Fashion Show.
The exclusive fashion set our hearts on fire as decadent gown after decadent gown was sent down the runway. Luckily for you, we’ve highlighted a few of our stand-out favourites, although let us assure you that narrowing the list down to a mere few beauties was not an easy task! Collette Dinnigan, one of Australia’s most internationally celebrated designers, wowed the audience with her signature delicate pieces. Easily the most wearable collection, Dinnigan successfully appealed to a wide spectrum of brides, utilising a diverse range of fabrics and silhouettes to ensure each and every piece told a different story.
Rachel Gilbert also did a fabulous job of producing a collection that could be plucked straight from the runway and slipped onto a radiant bride-to-be. Classic sweetheart necklines, layers of tulle and detailed bodices made the feminine creations, with vintage 1920s shapes incorporated into her sleeker designs. The bridal outfits were accessorised with a garland of white flowers, proving that the garland headwear trend showcased by bridal fashion powerhouses Carolina Herrera and Oscar De La Renta in S/S 2013 is still here to stay.
Aurelio Costarella’s collection shone with 1920’s sophistication and opulence. Chiffon, silks, sheer head wrap scarves, detailed embroidery, and feather shawls transported the audience to an era of swinging champagne garden parties and roaring jazz. The simply stunning gowns are the very definition of vintage chic.
One of the most fantastic things about the six collections that graced the runway Saturday night was the sheer individuality of each designer. Each artist sought inspiration from unique sources to create truly captivating gowns. Akira looked to his Japanese heritage and the draping silhouette of the Kimono to create his one-of-a-kind collection rich with detail and a hint of the extravagant Victorian period.
The rule with Maticevski bridal is to expect the unexpected, his signature manipulation of traditional silhouettes and use of unique resources bring together a crafted master skill of Haute Couture with a twist of Avante Guard Energy. On the night Maticevski presented gowns that fused soft femininity with structured shapes and materials.
Once again the 1920s reigned supreme as Gwendolynne sent opulent vintage inspired gowns down the runway, the flapper dress evidently has become a must-have for 2013. Sensual and romantic, Gwendolynne’s luxurious couture sparkled with hand-embellishments created with the utmost quality and timeless beauty.

Elie Saab presented a divinely romantic collection of pastel hues at his Spring 2012 Couture show. Pastel colours are in high-demand and everyone is looking to this memorable 2012 couture show for inspiration. Ultra-ladylike and ultra-sweet, sheer and sparkling powder blues, cotton-candy pinks and minty greens delicately swayed down the runway in intricate embroidery and feminine silhouettes.
We can’t look past the light as air skirts and crystalised tulle flowers as the perfect creations for an opulent wedding dress. If you ever doubted the coloured wedding dress trend, this is the collection that will restore your faith. The frosty pastel colour palette is nothing short of divine and undoubtedly still has women scrambling for a proposal and wedding bells ringing in our ears.

The red carpet at the annual Oscar awards was, as expected, a walking fashion parade of 2013’s hottest couture looks for the season ahead. Between the display of stunning (and some not so stunning, sorry Anne Hathaway) gowns were a few that gave rise to some serious bridal inspiration. Fashion enthusiasts all over the globe are in agreement that Jennifer Lawrence killed it in her fabulous Dior Couture creation, a structured bell-bottom silhouette we can see trailing down the aisle. Amy Adams looked wedding-worthy in strapless bodice and full ruffled skirt dress by Oscar De La Renta, the soft grey colour providing a subtle tribute to the current coloured wedding dress trend. Amanda Seyfried shone radiantly in Alexander McQueen with a keyhole halter neckline that showed off her polished shoulders. Swept up in the flattering peplum trend, the winner in our eyes (Oscar or no Oscar) was Charlize Theron who perfected modern bride in her pure white Dior Couture gown.
The wedding gown contenders continued beyond the red carpet and into the Vanity Fair after-party, where the likes of Natalie Portman and Rose Byrne sent us into white dress envy. Natalie, forever effortlessly elegant, teamed satin Dior with emerald earrings, proving that brides can wear a column dress and maintain high-fashion class. Rose looked sophisticated ballerina in a Lanvin wrap skirt and backless leotard, a simple style turned bridal with the use of delicate silk. Paul Vasileff burst onto the Australian fashion scene with his elaborate, elegant and ethereal couture collections in 2007, fusing established style staples with a contemporary edge, creating unique handmade garments that infatuate those with a truly romantic heart.
Paul continues to cement his mark on the Australian bridal fashion scene with his label Paolo Sebastian as he launches his Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. Paul’s latest collection pays tribute to the ladies of the silver screen, with Audrey Hepburn and Greta Garbo being his greatest inspirations.
“These elegant women exude a certain level of sexuality, whilst still epitomising sophistication,” says Paul. “I searched for months to find the most intricate silver and rose gold laces to create a collection of muted metallics.” The romantic silhouettes and intricate craftsmanship, make Paul’s Autumn/Winter collection unforgettable and we just can't keep our eyes off the amazing slim line silver silk crepe corset gown with beaded lace boat neck...decadently divine!
