So your hubby-to-be did it, now it’s time for YOU to pop the big question…to your best girlfriends. “Will you be my bridesmaid?” is a question you (hopefully) only ask once in your life, so make it special and unique. We’ve put together a few different ways to ask the leading ladies in your life to stand by your side on your wedding day. You can ask with a simple unique card and you could get really creative and make your own. A special note inside will be a memento for your girlfriends to keep forever. The best part is they can reflect your own personal style (no fiancé to consider with these invites!), from formal and glamorous to whimsical DIY.
BHLDN offer sweet handkerchiefs sewn with “Will you be my bridesmaid?” – totally adorable and perfect for when the happy tears start flowing at the alter. Another idea is to put together special bridesmaid survival kits. Include specifications of their duties (moral support, checking for lipstick on the teeth etc), tools for minor emergencies (bobby pins, stain remover, mending kit, Panadol etc) and a disposable camera to capture the planning process.
If you’re a foodie, say it with something that reflects your passion. Personalised biscuits will satisfy a sweet tooth or get wine labels made up for your favourite bottles of sparkling, champagne or shiraz. You can pop them open over a bridesmaids’ brunch or keep them to celebrate a wedding anniversary in many years. However you decide to ask, ask with love and celebrate that you are blessed to have such special girls by your side during your 'I Do's'.

“I’ve found my man but I still need my girls!”…Celebrate your hens night in style with this gorgeous Chanel theme – there’s not a pair of fluffy handcuffs or feather boa in sight. Not that there’s anything wrong with going totally wild, but if your life revolves around fashion and all things fabulous (Coco’s words, not ours) then this Chanel hens night styling is a tres chic way to say goodbye to bachelorette life with a bang. Pink, gold, white and black is our sexy colour scheme for the night you may not remember, but will never want to forget.
Chanel is all about the classics – and nothing is more classic than a LBD (little black dress). Each bridesmaid / guest should wear her favourite LBD with a killer pair of heels so that they’re all matching. As the bride, you could wear a pink or white dress to stand out from the crowd – and your photos will look fab. We love the idea of the photobooth in the pics below – the perfect prop is Karl Lagerfelds head, of course! Coco Chanel had an infamous love for flowers, particularly Camellias, so decorate your space with an abudance of fresh and fragrant blooms.
Chanel themed cocktail food is a great way to kick off the night, before the champagne starts flowing of course, how chic are these quilted Chanel cupcakes? ...and what goes perfectly with cocktail food? COCKTAILS! These vibrant berry cosmopolitans will have you up and dancing a la Carrie Bradshaw in no time.
A hens night needs to be minimum lameness and maximum fun – think of some creative games that will keep the laughs coming. We recently went to a Hens Night where each guest had to choose a dare out of a jar and complete it by the end of the evening – needless to say it was hilarious watching the girls whip out some interesting moves on the dance-floor or convincing strangers that they’re foreigners. Ex-charades was another fun game – divide the guests into teams and take it in turns pretending to be on the bride’s former hook ups, boyfriends or crushes. Just make sure hubby-to-be isn’t around!

Shoes, shoes, glorious shoes. A gorgeous pair of heels is an absolute must on your wedding day; God wouldn’t have given us Manolo Blahniks if he didn’t want us to wear them. Lately, brides are ditching the traditional wedding shoe for something a little different, whether it is a bright colour or a hot platform heel. The current fashion trends have a major influence and as far as stilettos go this season – the sky’s the limit. Style your wedding gown with a pair of white heels and add a touch of glamour with some stylish bling. Feminine cut out shapes are on trend and look amazing with a tan peeping through. If you are a fan of a classic pump shape, snap up a pair with a textured finish to keep your look up to date.
As for bridesmaids, a silver heel will look great no matter what colour gown you’ve styled them with. The versatile colour is opulent and will finish their outfits with the right amount of sparkle. Just like the brides, the bridesmaids can say goodbye to your typical wedding pump. Modernise their looks with sexy ankle straps and save bridesmaids' feet with a comfortable platform they can dance all night in.

The illusion neckline is oh so hot for weddings right now. From the bride to the bridesmaids, designers everywhere are showing off a little décolletage through sheer materials. The faithful strapless gown has been around the block and we are welcoming this stylish spin on your classic cut. Perfect for bridesmaids, a chiffon neckline will take their gowns from simple to sleek, allowing you plenty of room to play around with opulent accessories. Statement clutch bags and shoes are the perfect details to complete the high-fashion look. Bridesmaids in illusion necklines are very now and very glamorous.

Can't get enough of the feminine and mystical shades of the sea? Good news! Turquoise is fresh, invigorating and on trend right now. We were inspired by the gorgeous shades of green and blue on the runway at Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2013 show, particularly the breezy and elegant mint dress featured below. Shades of turquoise and mint look fabulously crisp with white and will have a calming effect on your big day. Pastel nail polish and makeup was also seen all over the runways, a look that we ourselves are sporting in the office (hello, aqua nails!). Minty décor is pretty and soft, try subtle additions such as frosted mint chairs and hanging lanterns, the colour also looks beautiful with bouquets of baby’s breath. Minty fresh!
