BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE

20 June 2013

As July approaches it seems we've suddenly found ourselves smack bang in the middle of winter. It approaches so quickly each year (and it never gets any easier). There are some perks of the winter months - the atmosphere is cosy, comfortable and while it's raining on the outside, we can indulge in some creature comforts on the inside. Today, we've put together some cute winter wedding ideas that will take the chill off the air for those tying the knot in the wintery season. You may want to muse over this one with a hot chocolate...or a glass of red...whatever warms you up best...

Use earthy tones, woods and cosy materials to warm up your styling. Balls of wool can be used as centre pieces or to decorate jars, candle-holders and table numbers. Nothing warms us up in winter like wool does and it can be proudly South Australian sourced. Chopped firewood can decorate your reception throughout, as a stand alone feature or you can rest your menus, food and other elements on finely chopped stumps.

Winter is all about comfort foods. Warm up your guests hearts with a hot chocolate buffet, the perfect idea for drinks between the ceremony and reception! Toasted marshmallows are gooey, delicious and will go perfectly with a warm hot chocolate. For a winter wedding, we would choose a creature comfort menu. Family and good times are about sharing a good meal.

A gorgeous and practical bomboniere idea are soft Pashminas. Hang one over each guest's chair and they'll be able to drape it over their lap or shoulders (particularly during an outdoor ceremony) so they don't get chilly. They will be able to use it to stay warm throughout the night and wear it all winter!
