When we heard that the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2013 was Emerald Green we were, to be honest, a little uninspired. The dark shade of green didn’t exactly have us leaping out of our chairs to eagerly put together a wedding style blog post. BUT. This was before Cameo The Label released their much-anticipated 2013 collection “The Clearing” last week. The gorgeous enchanted print suddenly had us conjuring images in our minds of rich emerald weddings with a botanical twist. A chic way to put some quirky character into Pantone’s emerald and incorporate the hue into your wedding.

We love the rainforest kaleidoscope pattern across “The Clearing” collection, the overgrown ferns, lush emerald greens and the hint of sunlight peeking trough the treetops. Tarzan meet Jane, Tarzan marry Jane…in style. Make emerald come alive with the use of exotic botanic elements throughout your styling. Skip the classic bouquet and use a variety of ferns as your flora, they look amazing with whites and gold. The thing about a botanic theme is that it can be oh so amazingly elegant, we think of the extravagance of an old English Hunting Lodge. Rich greens, mahogany’s and an abundance of opulent style.

Apothecary jars in various styles and shapes will become your best friend. Place them along your tables with various ferns and mismatched plants to create the crazy and cool work area of an experimental botanist. Centrepieces can be made with larger apothecary jars with soil and miniature plants in them – almost like a mini greenhouse. Wild, organic and so different it’s chic.

Botanic themes inherently have a classy edge, a characteristic owed to the innately royal connotations of emerald green and the rich gold and mahogany hues that go with it. Do not be afraid to experiment with rainforest glam and mix wild elements with sophisticated pieces. Host a wedding that is an extension of your urbane self in an ambience infused with style.
