So usually when you mention using skulls in your wedding décor people pull the funniest faces at the thought – it’s quite amusing to say the least – but we bet they have never seen them look this good! Inspired by an Alexander McQueen scarf that caught our eye here at the office, it combined girlie pink with edginess through the incorporation of the iconic Alexander McQueen skull. Ladies, we promise you, this post proves that, if need be, skulls can be incorporated into a wedding and still look bridal.
There are so many shapes, forms and sizes that skull heads come in! One of our absolute fave is using Swarovski encrusted skulls; they are girly, glam and look spectacular when paired with fresh florals and candles. Bell jars covering black skulls add an air of modern chicness to any centrepiece, especially when placed on a mirrored base. The key to pulling off skull décor is to keep the palette high-end and clean through the use of black, white, gold or even botanicals, the aim is to make them stand out.

Nothing is more intimate than a casual garden reception, created with the upmost love for close family and friends. Forget about the formal hustle and bustle, take off your heels and relax in a chic, homely and comfortable atmosphere. A garden wedding is the ideal time to test your DIY skills with unique homemade decorations and to turn ordinary household items into beautiful adornments around your reception. Cosy, affordable and very cute, celebrate your marriage under the blue skies and later dance on soft grass under the twinkling stars.
Be creative with items found around your home and create a style that blends perfectly with the natural surroundings. A wheelbarrow filled with ice holds an array of ice-cold refreshments and pegs display heartfelt handwritten best wishes from your guests. A chalkboard is a simple way to display the menu and later can be rubbed out and replaced with a departing thank you note to guests.
Food choices needn’t be fancy, homemade pasties and jars filled with sweet treats are available for guests to sample at their leisure as they mingle in the garden. Fairy lights and lanterns hung amongst the trees create a magical secret garden feel and illuminate the yard and dance area with a soft glow as dusk fades into a balmy night.

As an Adelaide-based husband and wife team, Vinny and Lori approach each wedding with the utmost love and respect, developing a magnificent business that is fresh, creative, fun, professional and highly customer focused.
We jump behind the lens and meet the pair shooting to incredible heights in the wonderful world of wedding photography. “I am pretty relaxed, positive with a keen eye for detail, and Lori is very determined, loud (extremely loud!) and creative,” laughs Vinny, “Our attributes work really well together.” With an innovative and forward thinking approach to weddings, this dynamic duo is realising extraordinary achievements amongst the industry’s elite. “Adelaide is not short of wedding photographers so to have come so far so quickly is incredible. Our success stems from hard work, learning from our mistakes and really listening to our clients.”
When asked how his accomplished journey all began, Vinny jokes, “The cheesy line ‘It chose me’ would not be far from the truth,” whilst adding, “I have always loved photography, my family often recall stories of days when ‘mini-Vinny’ would run around with my father’s old camera strapped around my neck snapping photos at my cousins’ weddings. The day I married the love of my life was the moment my passionate hobby turned into an exciting career venture. As Lori always tells me, I was a bit of a ‘Groomzilla’ and knew exactly what I wanted for our special day, and so my love of the wedding industry began.”
Priding themselves on incredible dedication and constant commitment to capturing thought-provoking images, these inspirational visionaries emphasise the importance of working your way to the top, “We learnt the ropes whilst assisting other professional photographers and attending Master Photography seminars and training courses. Anyone can take ‘a good photo’, however making it outstanding takes a lot of hard work, passion and creativity.”
With many exceptional career accomplishments under their belts, a highlight for the two includes winning national and state based Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) Awards, “As photographers who really value the AIPP recognition, this is huge!” A strong connection with the camera and an indescribable enthusiasm for what they do is exactly how Vinny and Lori perfectly document real, honest, life-long love. “We love to make the day enjoyable for our couples. We create a pleasurable and productive photo shoot resulting in stunning, natural and light images... something inspiring, beautiful and timeless to be cherished forever.”
In our business, we are inspired by our clients’ feedback and customer referrals. There is nothing more satisfying than having a meeting with someone who has been referred to us by a previous client. It means that we have reached a couple’s expectations of their wedding day, inclusive of the photographs and ‘post customer care’.
On the day of the wedding, we are motivated by the surroundings, objects, light, reflections and framing (we’re getting all excited as we speak!). We also look upon the fashion industry for inspiration, new angles, ideas and body movement. We love to keep our images very ‘new’ and ‘chic’ whilst remaining respectful to the occasion and the couple’s wishes.
A FRESH APPROACH TO WEDDINGS...
In 2014, we launched a new product, the ‘Same-Day Slideshow’. Imagine enjoying the evening at a beautiful wedding... laughing, eating, toasting and talking to others on your table about how gorgeous the bride looks and wondering how the lucky couple must be feeling. Suddenly, the ‘Same-Day Slideshow’ starts. The bride, groom and their guests can now view a presentation of the day, the couple getting ready, the vows, ‘that kiss’, their love, laughter and all the fun! The slideshow is completely edited and finished to the couple’s choice of music, it is such a magical way to share the day with family and friends.
Details, details, details! We absolutely love the lengths couples are going to in order to create something distinctive from the ‘traditional wedding’. The place cards at a recent wedding we photographed displayed guests’ names with the meaning of their name underneath. Attention to detail makes a wedding just that little bit more special, unique, beautiful and not to mention, incredibly fun to photograph! Social media is another trend for weddings. Applications like Pinterest encourage brides to get creative when styling their day. Instagram and Facebook introduce a personalised ‘hashtag’, allowing couples to document their special day through shared images from family and friends.
ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELVES PEOPLE DON’T KNOW...
As I remind Lori everyday, I was once the lead singer in the Australian Boys Choir and occasionally I belt out a few tunes on a wedding day. I usually get a smile or even the whole bridal party singing along and bellowing with laughter, either works for me. Lori is the biggest ‘KISS’ fan and still to this day she wears a t-shirt from one of their concerts around twenty years ago... now that is dedication!
THE NEXT BIG CHALLENGE...
Moving our business forward and growing our professional team.
IF WE WEREN’T IN THE INDUSTRY WE WOULD BE...
There is no place we would rather be! Photography allows us to be creative, stimulates our mind, and challenges us mentally and physically. As the saying goes, ‘Choose to do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life’. Although owning your own business has its challenges and we rarely enjoy a day off, we still don’t feel as though this is work.
Simply witnessing a couple cuddling up together whilst viewing their ‘Same-Day Slideshow’. The look of utter joy and amazement with tears rolling down their faces and the elated faces of their families, says it all. Our job here is done!
A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK...
Is always amazing! We absolutely love what we do; we are able to witness and record a new family beginning and the first day of a couple’s new life. We arrive, gear up and have fun. It is almost as though we are a groomsman and bridesmaid every weekend. The laughs, the stories and the love!
FIRST THING WE DO WHEN WE GET TO WORK...
Let the light be the direction! We take a walk around the location; look for the light source, angles and objects we can use to take something from ‘ok’ to pretty spectacular.
FAVOURITE PLACE TO HANG OUT...
Our local coffee shop, ‘Froth and Fodder’. We both love coffee, rustic food and good music. It is our absolute favourite place to ‘chill’ when we have the opportunity.
A SONG ALWAYS IN OUR HEAD...
‘Benny and The Jets’ by Elton John. It’s so infectious... I bet you’re singing it right now!
OUR WARDROBE CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT...
Ugg boots, they are the most comfortable item I own. If I could wear them on a shoot I totally would. Lori has a huge range of scarves, the girl loves to accessorise.
TOP OF THE SHOPPING LIST...
Oh if only I could purchase sleep! No really, sleep is on the top of my list but also seeing our children’s faces as they walk through the gates of Disneyland would be pretty priceless too. We are all for experiences and memory making. Lori would also love a vegetable garden for the kids and herself to pick a yummy harvest for dinner. Of course, she would like it to appear completely built, planted and maintained as well.
CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT...
Our family, they are our everything. As crazy as they may be we would do anything for them.
FAVOURITE PLACE TO SHOP AND EAT IN ADELAIDE...
Sosta Argentinian Kitchen is our ultimate favourite restaurant. Lori is very healthy but pass me a plate of meat and I am happy. My favourite place to shop is Photographic Wholesalers; I could literally purchase one of everything in that store. I am a gadgets man.
OUR IDEA OF A GOOD TIME...
Gathering the family for a Sunday drive. Coffee, sun and relax... bliss!
WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH?
We both love comedy movies, anything with Jason Bateman will get a laugh out of us. Also catching our four year old ‘breaking it down’ to Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars in the back seat had us in stitches for hours.
WHICH FIVE WORDS BEST DESCRIBE YOU?
Fun-loving, creative, strong, hardworking and passionate.

We love a good colour block; it’s so modern and refreshing! Gorgeously vibrant reds are a match made in heaven when paired with pink hues for a pretty and playful wedding palette –especially when set against a bit of gold or copper. These tones are fabulous as accent colours to really make a statement and add real warmth and intimacy to your look. Reminiscent of raspberries and rubies, be inspired by all the darling ways this palette can make your celebration pop…
Featuring one impactful statement piece is a modern and vibrant way to use this palette; An ombre draped curtain ceremony backdrop complete with romantically lit candles, or a luscious centrepiece filled with red and pink florals to the perfect abstract manicure of bold colours against the crisp white of a wedding dress! If you love this palette, but don't want it to be too bold, choose to limit the reds to pops in specific places and use a light shade of pink everywhere else.

Its better to know this from the start: being a bride might not be as fairytale-like as you thought it would be! Not even all those times you snuck into your mums closet to try on her dress or the scrapbook that’s turned into a Pinterest board of flowers and cake can prepare you for the surprises of planning a wedding…
“What wedding fund?”
That is pretty much what you might hear from your parent’s mouths. All along you’ve assumed that your parents have set aside funds for your wedding when in fact they had used all their money to keep you clothed and well fed while you were growing up.
Things are pretty expensive
Once you explain to someone that you are planning a wedding, things start to get really pricey and the more conversations you have, the magic number somehow keeps getting higher! It is very likely you wont be saying I do in the lavish way Pinterest mislead you to believe…
Bridesmaids can get a little irritating
You’ve asked your nearest and dearest girlfriends to be your bridal tribe on the big day but it isn’t all sunshine and flowers! Every decision you make that affects them, from the neckline of their dresses to the shade of colour on their lips, will be met with complaining, criticism and a whole lot of debating.
You and hubby-to-be will fight
You are honestly going to think to yourself that someone has invaded the body of the man you thought was your fiancé during the planning process. All of a sudden the man of your dreams has an opinion about the reception tables and who should sit next to who at the reception; we promise, tension will rise! Never mind though, it is just the stress and it will calm down after the wedding.

THE COUPLE: Lucy + Nick
PALETTE: Soft pinks and greens based on our love for Australian natives.
THE CEREMONY + RECEPTION: The ceremony and reception were held in Nick’s brother’s backyard. We wanted our declaration of love to be in a place where guests could feel comfortable and at home. My sister’s partner made our ceremony arch from scratch. We hired guest chairs and borrowed quirky decor extras, including our ‘bathtub esky’ to hold the refreshments.
It was amazing to surprise our loved ones as guests were originally invited to what they thought was our ‘engagement party’. We even had decoy outfits that we wore as people were arriving and then about thirty minutes into the celebration my father announced that it was actually our wedding! We all went inside to change and my brother, brother-in-law and father set up the chairs and our arch whilst our florist put together the finishing touches. Nick and I had our ‘first look’ in the house before we both walked down the aisle with our parents.
THE DÉCOR: Gorgeous Australian native blooms were placed in jars and scattered across the tables alongside assorted tea light candles. Pillows and blankets were spread across the lawn for a relaxed, picnic feel where guests could mingle. Other styling elements such as the old dresser, tables, weathered ‘gifts + cards’ suitcase and doily tablecloths were all sourced from family members. Having pieces from family, friends and the church made everyone feel a part of the day.
PHOTOGRAPHER: We were looking for contemporary, Australian and unique photography. Nick has been friends with Christopher for a while and he truly is the best!

This extraordinary foliage really puts the “d” in dreamy. Growing wildly in seas of feathery foliage, this grass looks sublime swaying in the air, these chameleonic species lend a softly sculptural element to wedding styling. It’s the touch of luxe that your nuptials need, standing at up to 5 feet tall in plumes of white or pink hues. For the perfect ceremonial drama create an incredible backdrop of pampas grass plumes, arranged in larger than life fan formations, an overhead canopy, an enclosed circle or as giant clusters spilling from urns.
The feathery plumes are lush and flashy so they don’t need many other flowers to compliment the,. However, they do look stunningly striking against green foliage for your centrepieces and bouquets. You can also use it to decorate your wedding arch or table, venue entrance, or in any other creative way. Used sparingly or not, pampas grass will give your wedding the lush luxe look that will have your guests speaking for years to come.

Monochrome may be a favourite colour palette for weddings, but we bet you've never seen it looking so contemporary and funky! The monochrome palette ensures the theme is still elegant and that your style really POPS! We don't know about you, but we're obsessed!
The myriad of ways you can incorporate black and white stripes into your wedding day is quite wonderfully astounding! Brrrrr, it's chilly outside! Winter weddings are some of the most
deeply romantic, however they can have a bite in the air during the
cooler months. Keep your guests cosy, warm and enjoying your special day
with these delicious winter warming tricks...
Have pashminas handy for your guests to drape over their shoulders
when chilly. They could be cute wedding favours, used as chair decor or
displayed in boxes that encourage guests to take one to keep warm. They
look super cute and all it takes is a pashmina to take the chill off the
A hot chocolate bar!
You heard us, a hot chocolate bar! Set up a station at your event
complete with hot chocolate and marshmallows for guests to warm
themselves with from the inside out. A fab idea for guests to enjoy
while you're off enjoying your photography session, or for a late night
Your guests may have dressed for the wintery weather and worn their
snug coats, but often cold hands can creep up on you and put a little
damper on the festivities. Provide a gloves station for guests to warm
their fingers if the need be.
It's definitely sweater weather, and just because you're a bride
doesn't mean you have to stay cold too. Incorporate a chic angora
sweater into your bridal style (and for the bridesmaids) for a
cute-as-punch look that will keep you warm AND stylish.
Hot choccy wedding favours!
Send guests home with a little something to enjoy after the
celebrations. These hot chocolate kits in jars are a fab way to ensure
they spend the day after the wedding with their feet up by the fire,
sipping a cup of deliciousness and thinking fondly of your special day.
Spirit wedding favours!
Nothing warms the belly more like brandy, rum or a little champagne.
These miniature sized wedding favours are definite winter warmers.
If your venue restrictions allow, create a wedding bonfire. Some of
our fondest memories are around a fire, swapping stories and toasting
marshmallows. Provide some treats for your guests to melt and let them
warm their faces by a charming open flame.
Rainy photography session!
Instead of allowing the weather to dampen your spirits, take
advantage of mother nature. A rainy day means you can create some
gorgeous wedding photos, just like these couples have with romantic
umbrellas. Too cute!
Slipper wedding favours!
Send guests home with a pair of warm slippers for their tootsies and they'll be your best friends forever, we promise.
Blanket wedding favours!Blanket wedding favours are cute AND practical. Guests will be able to keep warm on the evening of your wedding, and use them for a long time after. They'll think of you every time they whip their blanket out on a winter's night or during summer for a picnic.

The wedding etiquette rules of the bride and groom are often discussed quite openly with everything from the wording on the invitation to the guest list. Consider if you are purely just a guest at a wedding – does etiquette apply to you? Well believe it or not, there are a number of rules that you should keep in mind as a guest in regards to what is and what isn’t appropriate! Here are a few…
RSVP BY THE DEADLINE
Being the best wedding guest that you can be starts from the moment you receive the invitation in the mail. A pet-peeve that we have all experienced at some point is having half your guest list not rsvp to your event leaving your catering and seat numbers in limbo – don’t be that person! In most cases, you have plenty of time to get your RSVP in so there are no excuses for sending it in late. If you are forgetful or tend to loose pieces of mail easily, make an effort to send your response the same day you receive the invite.
DON’T BE LATE
The bride is allowed to be late, you are not! Even though you know that this is common practise in weddings, you should still trying your absolute best to be there at the time advised on the invitation. There isn’t much more embarrassing then stumbling into the ceremony while it is already underway, and not to mention disrespectful to the couple.
WHITE IS A NO-NO!
You would think that this is one rule that would not need repeating, but here we are. Almost every wedding we have attended has had one or two guests break this cardinal wedding guest rule. If you aren’t sure whether your outfit is considered white or not, go with the latter and avoid wearing it. Don’t take any shine away from the bride; this is her day to stand out.
KEEP CHIT CHAT TO A MINIMUM
Keep your congratulatory chitchat to a minimum and don’t take offense if you don’t spend much time with the couple of the night. We understand you are excited to congratulate them but remember to keep in mind that they have many guests to greet and thank.
DON’T BE FOOLISH
Being on your best behaviour goes hand in hand with drinking responsibly for many. The bottom line though is to not do anything that would draw attention away from the couple. We are saying a major NO to any loud, attention seeking and obnoxious behaviour – which includes your impromptu speech that no one really wants to hear. Always be polite, well mannered and gracious, it’s the better option than never being invited to one of your friends weddings again.

What can be more romantic than a dusting of snow on your big day – just imagine all the dreamy shots your photographer can capture! A Winter Wonderland wedding in a palette of the prettiest soft neutrals, rather than bold reds and winter blues, looks so elegant with splashes of gold and silver metallic goodness. Combined with muted shades of green florals and you have the elegant winter wedding of your dreams…
A long sleeve lace wedding gown with a full ball-gown skirt is perfect to keep the winter chill away and keep within the romantic style of a winter wonderland celebration. Dreamy up-do’s adorned with magical headpieces are a must for the perfect finishing touch to any snow brides look and adds the perfect amount of sparkle.
Splashes of gold and silver add warmth and opulence to a winter celebration, even to the most simple and rustic of tables. Calligraphy on all stationery is a must to complete the overall beauty of the theming. Think outside the box lovelies, just because you live in the city doesn’t mean you cant transform it into a gorgeous winter wonderland!

It is the perfect colour for those autumn celebrations. This comforting and warming shade offers positive vibes and is rich, elegant and all the things that rustic fall weddings are made of! Mustard is the kind of colour that looks amazing when paired with neutrals, grey or black. Have a space that's lacking colour and character? Mustard is a colour that transforms spaces!
When it comes to florals, this hue has no shortage of pretty blooms to pair. Infuse your bouquets with some billy buttons for some added colour and a real POP! Highlight your colour choice through your wedding cake. If you are choosing to have this palette as an autumn wedding, then why not choose a richer cake flavour like chocolate or spice cake.

and confuse the spirits, and thus protect her. However, veil or no veil is the question on
every bride's mind! There is a myriad of ways to wear them + simply too

for you? Don’t fret, we have you covered – delight your peepers with

Even your sweetest, most timid girlfriend can crumble under the stress of wedding planning and prep – so here is some sound advice to you from us: never, ever let the following things slip out of your mouth while around your frazzled bride-to-be!
I DON’T REALLY CARE!
YES, YES you do care – don’t ever tell a bride that you don’t care about something to do with their wedding; it’s a huge no-no! Bridesmaid, groom, sister or mother, no matter who or what you are to the bride she needs your support, advice and involvement at the very leady in whatever she has asked you. So, if a bride asks for your opinion, even if you don’t care about the topic, please don’t say you don’t care because she does care if the scatters are light pink, blush or fuchsia.
ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO EAT THAT?
Chances are your once carefree girlfriend has morphed into the world’s biggest perfectionist since starting to plan her wedding – that’s because every bride wants to look perfect on their big day! They tend to lose sleep over things you may find unimportant as the day draws closer, including the stress of gaining weight so reminding them of this fear is probably not the best idea. It is important to remind her that she looks beautiful just the way she is!
NOBODY IS GOING TO NOTICE THAT
Are you crazy? If it’s there, someone will see it at some time, even if only by accident. It doesn’t matter if it’s the smallest speck on a tablecloth or a sequin that’s millimetres off-centre, if she notices it, someone else may and, well, it’s just not worth the risk.
Have you ever had anybody say to you the words “calm down” and you have actually calmed down? No? we didn’t think so! Saying this is always more than likely going to have to opposite effect on your frazzled bride-to-be. You certainly wont help her sort through the hundred different things running through her mind so instead, sit her down and create a plan of action together!

Elizabeth and Philip were married at Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947, in front of 2,000 invited guests. The ceremony was broadcast on radio, to 200 million listeners worldwide.
Elizabeth’s wedding dress was designed by court designer Norman Hartnell. The gown was long sleeved and featured a high neckline, tailored bodice and a short train made in duchesse satin with motifs of star lilies and orange blossoms. Inspired by the Botticelli painting “Primavera,” where the central figure wears “clinging ivory silk, trailed with jasmine, smilax, syringa and small rose-like blossoms.” The 15-foot train, embroidered with pearl, crystal, and appliqué duchess satin, featured a star pattern. She borrowed a tiara from her mother: the diamond-encrusted Queen Mary Fringe Tiara, originally made for Queen Mary from a necklace Queen Victoria had given her as a wedding present.
More than 2,500 wedding presents arrived from around the world, and 10,000 telegrams of congratulations.

As one of Adelaide’s leading wedding ceremony and function destinations with over fifteen years experience delivering exceptional events, Sfera’s Park Suites and Convention Centre requires nothing less than an extraordinary, talented and dedicated individual to ensure perfection every time. Hospitality Manager Michael Sfera completes the checklist, bringing his hospitality, culinary, training, tourism and business qualifications to the role, as well as his unwavering enthusiasm and a vision for magnificent events.
Deservingly proud of what Sfera’s has accomplished, Michael tells us “We are a multiple award winning business that offers deluxe function rooms for wedding receptions, ceremony locations and rooms, as well as accommodation in a picturesque parkland setting. Put simply, the fact that you can do everything for your wedding in the one stunning location, in a place that the main focus and specialty is delivering outstanding weddings, is what sets us apart.”
Michael says his upbringing in the food industry, along with experience at interstate hotels, was the catalyst that spurred his career down the path of hospitality management. This decision allowed Michael to take a basic offering of Sfera’s to a new level, with a significant extension from design to completion, renovations that further continued with a full refurbishment of the original function space. “Most of what you see here at Sfera’s has been either newly constructed or completely refurbished from what you would have seen in 2006” he explains.
When he’s not in meetings, liaising with clients and working on the food wholesaling part of the business, Michael still has time to serve as the Chair at Restaurant and Catering South Australia, in addition to contributing to the Adelaide Convention Bureau as a Director for a number of terms. Join us as we get to know the man who is not only a hospitality manager, but a gym-junkie, published writer and lover of a good laugh…
favourite industry leader...
I draw inspiration from people that drive change in the hospitality industry, such as Justin Hemmes from Merivale Group in Sydney. The now iconic venues of ivy and the Establishment were both industry benchmarks on release and he continues to organically evolve with his market. Mario Batali’s American empire is also very impressive purely from a food and wine sense. I am also a fan of people like Jamie Oliver who like to use their notoriety to give back to society, such as his contribution towards educating youth on ‘real’ food and nutrition.
I am inspired by intelligent, dedicated and passionate people who consistently achieve great things, in many cases where the odds are stacked against them and many of which you never hear about. Sometimes my inspiration comes from simply thinking outside the square, listening to others, research and keeping an open mind to new ideas. I often wake up at three am with one!
a fresh approach...
We are continuously renovating spaces and purchasing new wedding decor, endeavouring to tailor events to individuals. We are dynamic and aim to respond to the latest trends and change, increasing and improving our online products and communication. We identify with people’s busy schedules and the recent growing appreciation for good food and wine.
The most humbling compliment I’ve received is that I inspired someone to pursue what they are doing now. I recently received a call from a client who thanked me for personally painting a picture of what we could do for their wedding. They let me know they were grateful it was significantly better than they ever could have imagined and a day they will never forget.
Creating weddings that are tailored to individuals! I cannot recall a time when there has been so many ways to personalise and create some ‘unique theatre’ in a wedding. Today, there is a greater emphasis placed on the full experience and convenience, with rustic and vintage weddings being extremely popular at the moment.
a typical day at work...
I write out a list, return messages, attend sales and operations meetings, design plans, follow-up implementation, liaise with all of our departments and our gourmet centre and gourmet express business, find solutions to problems, correspond with clients, get fresh air, eat and cover a few kilometres!
first thing i do when i get to work...
Say ‘hi’ to everyone then make myself an espresso and I know its ‘old school’ but I skim over the newspaper before opening emails.
favourite place to hang out...
The gym and with friends at restaurants, pubs, bars, Adelaide Oval and the beach when I can get there.
if i wasn’t in the industry i would be...
Working in the health and nutrition field or have an online business, or both!
the next big challenge...
Growing the business in a sustainable manner in what has been a flat economy with rising costs.
top of the shopping list...
An AC Cobra – an absolute classic!
can’t live without...
Dark chocolate, good red wine and seafood risotto.
my idea of a good time...
The Spring Racing Carnival or anywhere you can enjoy great food, wine and company!
what makes you laugh?
Rodney Dangerfield and dedicated karaoke singers that can’t sing!
which five words best describe you?
Determined, measured, personable, charismatic, dynamic.
red wine or champagne?
At the moment Shiraz from McClaren Vale.

Here is South Australia we have been lucky enough to be blessed with some of the most picturesque and simply stunning wine regions in Australia, so why not take advantage of that on your special day! Draw inspiration from the lush grapevines of the vineyards, the historical textures of the barns and the surrounding landscape of the countryside. Its all about the fine wine and good food – we can’t think of a reason not to get married on a vineyard!
Incorporate wine bottle corks, whether in your design or as a favour keychain, wooden wine barrels and the natural and organic elements of fresh florals and herbs into your flower décor. Balance the rustic elements with elegant touches of candelabras and candles for a romantic candlelit dinner, crystal chandeliers suspended above all complimented perfectly with intricate fresh floral designs.
Nothing goes better with a good drop of wine quite like cheese, so a cheese wheel wedding cake is the perfect addition to your vineyard wedding. Cut the cake at the beginning of the reception and have the cheese served to every table as a cheese platter garnished with some nuts and dried fruit. Your guests will love you for it!

Your bridesmaids usually are the girls that have seen by your side and seen it all with you; the bad boyfriends and breakups, the hair colour mishaps and bad eyebrows to the most embarrassing moments of your life – they know you better than anyone! Everyone worries about the best man mucking up the speech, but us girls have a tendency to ‘over share’, so maids listen up, these are the things you should NEVER ever mention in your speech to the happy couple.
We thought she was going to marry her last boyfriend but…
News flash!! Never, ever, ever bring up an ex-boyfriend in a wedding speech – no one, especially the groom, needs to or wants to hear all about the brides ex.
We can’t believe she finally got the ring…
Yes, some grooms take longer than others to propose, but don’t mention it in the speech, you don’t know the reasoning behind it.
If I had a dollar for every time they broke up…
Big no, no! Don’t discuss the trouble they have had as a couple, no relationship is perfect so stick to the good times and even share the good times you’ve had with them as a couple.
We never thought she was going to find anyone…
As girls we have all gone through a man-drought period, but mentioning your bestie’s single life will most likely get you in the bad books with her – so avoid it.
Remember when/ This one time…
There is no doubt that you girls had your fair share of fun and memories but take it from us, Grandma doesn’t need to know about the time you skinny dipped or those crazy nights.
Don’t steal the show. A wedding speech about the bride and groom isn’t your perfect opportunity to announce your engagement; this day is about them, not you!
I’m almost finished, just one more thing…
Keep it short, sweet and simple – if your notes are starting to turn into the novel of the century then cut it short. The bride and guests will thankyou for it

ANGELA + REX: 30 YEARS
One Sunday evening in the early eighties, Rex decided to pop in to the old Windsor Hotel in Sydney before returning to HMAS Watson where he was under training for the Royal Australian Navy. Angie was also at the hotel with a friend to see a band with little clue she was going to meet her soul mate that evening. Angie initiated the conversation, asking Rex if he was in the navy, “It was pretty obvious, as next to me I had a large duffle bag with Royal Australian Navy written on it!” laughs Rex. “We were both young, Angie seemed fascinated by men in uniform and I was fascinated that Angie was fascinated with me! We were in fact the exact opposite of each other”. c, the pair fell in love and according to Angie, Rex proposed two and half years later on bended knee over Sang Chow Bow at their favourite Chinese restaurant. Their engagement was an extended one, as Rex was on sea-posting and soon deployed to Africa.
The pair later married on September 21st 1985 in front of sixty guests during a particularly dreary day at the HMAS Watson Naval Chapel. “There was torrential rain, so overlooking the sea through the glass windows of the chapel there were dark, dark storm clouds”, they recall. The weather did not dampen their day or their beginning of their marriage and they were soon blessed with a beautiful baby girl Jessica, now twenty five.
So, what does marriage mean to the couple that have twenty nine years of marital bliss under their belts? “Marriage is a lifetime commitment,” explains Rex “a journey with someone who knows the best and worst about you but is still prepared to go along for the ride and love you regardless”. The couple have seen the best and the worst, including when Angie was diagnosed with terminal cancer when Jessica was a young girl. “My favourite thing about Angie is her ability to fight against seemingly insurmountable odds and win”, explains Rex, “She was determined to live to raise her daughter. Sixteen years later, her mission is accomplished.” Angie says it is Rex’s humour that she enjoys the most, “I laugh the hardest at his funny jokes. He doesn’t come up with too many but when he does they make you laugh so hard you end up with tears streaming down your face!”
To couples endeavouring to create a marriage that stands the test of time like Rex and Angie’s, Angie advises that it is important to support each other, communicate, to not be selfish and to understand that sometimes you need to work to make a marriage work. Rex adds that forgiveness and acceptance are the keys to a successful marriage.
Rex and Angie spent their most recent wedding anniversary enjoying a quiet dinner for two in Mawson Lakes and agree that they hope to spend their retired years travelling. When asked what he would you do if he won the lottery, Rex’s response sums up the reason why his marriage has stood the test of time; “I have already won the galactic lottery by being born in Australia in the latter half of the twenty first century, meeting Angie and enjoying the life together that we do, so I guess I’m already doing what I would do if I won the lottery”. Romantics eat your heart out.

Pop princess Madonna might not be a fan of them – but we sure are, alongside with just about every bride-to-be. Hydrangeas are the perfect classical summer flower and a quite popular wedding day bloom. Not only are the fluffy flowers perfect for creating a romantic, garden vibe, but they also come in tons of colours from bright white and cream to pale blue and antique green to nearly every shade of pink. A truly versatile flower, they stand out bunched on their own or look absolutely fantastic mixed with other blooms.
A dramatic focal point is the perfect accessory to your vow exchange, like this gorgeous wooden arbour that’s decorated in foliage and white hydrangeas. Alternatively, place bunches of hydrangea in vases along the aisle with lit candles for a romantic feel as you walk down the aisle towards hubby-to-be. Lush hydrangeas look incredibly elegant when used en masse; elevate them on pedestals for extra height and drama or wow your guests with amazing tables runners made entirely from fresh hydrangeas.
