THE COUPLE: Alannah + Anthony
PALETTE: Our inspiration came from nature, incorporating green and white. At last minute I decided to add grey as a feature colour. My favourite flower has always been the pink protea which is why I carried this through the whole wedding in various sizes.
THE DRESS: I searched for a timeless and unique gown that fit my body perfectly. I loved the simple drop of my dress and how it hugged my hips without being too revealing. The lace motifs on the train were exquisite and made me feel like a fairy. The gown is French chantilly lace with a V-neck, thin straps and a low back.
THE CEREMONY: I grew up in Houghton only a few streets away from Glen Ewin Estate and had family who had worked at the property when it was once a jam factory. It was always a special place for me and was on the top of the wedding venue list!
In keeping with the rustic elegance theme, my father and I designed a flower arch made from birch wood to be the main feature for the ceremony. Our florist hung vines and proteas on the arch, which looked amazing! We also placed flower jars atop tree stumps at the beginning of the aisle.
THE DÉCOR: We loved the rustic charm of the Pulpshed and wanted to keep it as simple as possible. My mother and I handmade the grey table runners which looked amazing with the vines and jars of flowers scattered along them. I made over one hundred candles of varying sizes and placed them in op-shop glasses to go along the tables. They were all salted caramel scented which filled the room with a scrumptious smell! We added a hanging ladder as the main display over the bridal table, and used a salvaged green door as our seating plan. Anthony and I placed two disposable cameras on each table for guests to use on the night. The photos are hilarious! We had our banquet menu printed on white card and placed on brown clipboards for guests to read, whilst each place setting included vintage silver cutlery to fit in with the theme.
THE FLOWERS: The bride and bridesmaid bouquets consisted of proteas, David Austin roses, peonies, blue gum, pink peppercorns and greenery. The flower girls also wore gypsophila flower crowns. The table flowers were a mixture of scattered vines and bundles of white and pink flowers, whilst the hanging installation included vines, blue gums and proteas.
PHOTOGRAPHER: Rustic, candid and relaxed! We wanted to have a lot of fun and not be too stiff or posed in photos. When I met Andrea I loved her work because it captured the pure joy of weddings. I was really impressed with Andrea’s leadership and knowledge on the day. She gave great direction to everyone in photos and really put us at ease.

There is something so fitting about including fruit into an autumn and winter wedding. This is one unique wedding décor idea that is sure to make a statement and really make your styling pop! Like flowers, fruit comes in many vibrant colours and the trick is to work with one colour and play up its various tones.
Incorporate smaller fruits, like cascading grapes or berries, into floral arrangements as an interesting filler or cluster fruit with a rind in glass hurricanes to create centerpieces without any flowers at all. Your opportunities are endless.
If you’re having an outdoor summer wedding, think about having infused water stations, which go perfectly with the theme or send your guests home with dome fresh fruit!
